Reflecting on 2023: A year of sustainable triumphs

As we say goodbye to the remarkable year of 2023 and welcome the dawn of 2024, it’s time to reflect on the incredible progress we have made together on the #PathToZero. Let’s revisit some highlights that made 2023 a year to remember.

All aboard the #PathToZero train!

Scone proudly welcomed 5,200 new users aboard the #PathToZero train. We go beyond addressing individual carbon footprints; we forge a vibrant community of like-minded people. Here, users can share their questions, celebrate successes, and inspire each other to realise their sustainable resolutions.

Building a green community in Somers Town

The community of Somers Town in Camden, London, is a beautiful example of a proactive and engaged community. The community’s climate ambassadors use the Scone platform to inform residents of the latest events within Somers Town’s Future Neighbourhoods 2030. The initiative is based on the belief that we can contribute towards a sustainable future by working together on activities that benefit the environment, our finances, and our quality of life.

Creating sustainable habits

The partnership between Scone and Somers Town produced a lifestyle challenge that positively influenced community members to adopt sustainable habits. The challenge encouraged participants to embrace eco-friendly practices, such as reducing waste and making more sustainable food choices.

“30 Dagen Minder Wagen” mobility triumph

Our “30 Dagen Minder Wagen” mobility challenge was a huge success. All 403 participants collectively covered an impressive 123,000 kilometres using eco-friendly modes of transportation, resulting in a 39% reduction in short car trips. This highlights the significant positive impact that sustainable transportation choices can have. You can check out all the details of our accomplishments here.

Sustainable living challenges

Teaming up with Ekomenu and Nicolas de Deken, we initiated a sustainable food challenge and a water-saving challenge, respectively. These challenges have raised awareness and inspired meaningful actions towards more sustainable lifestyles.

Victorious at the REBF Festival Pitch Contest

During the REBF (Real Estate & Building Future) Festival pitch contest, we achieved victory through the efforts of our partnerships pro, Ivor Kusters. Ivor delivered a compelling pitch, showcasing how Scone helps users reduce carbon emissions and energy costs by strategically influencing behaviour change on their #PathtoZero.

Inspiring lectures at INSEAD

It was an honour to have our CEO, Jan-Willem Rombouts, give two guest lectures at the renowned INSEAD - a business school consistently ranked in the top 3 MBA programs worldwide! During the lectures, he showcased how we’re accelerating the climate transition through a new platform business model, behavioural science techniques and AI.

Launching innovative solutions

We launched the SME CO₂ calculator within the SCATE4SME consortium in collaboration with PowerPulse and Carbon+Alt+Delete. This groundbreaking initiative aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises with the tools to measure and reduce their carbon footprint.

New revenue streams

Scone creates a digital twin of a user’s home or business and suggests ways to become more sustainable through renovations or upgrading the car fleet to EVs, for example. It can provide an estimated cost of the upgrades and display the expected yearly savings. Furthermore, Scone can integrate with existing services and be a highly targeted lead-generation tool.

Pioneering climate risk model

Collaborating with Carbon+Alt+Delete, we are at the forefront of developing a groundbreaking climate risk model. Thanks to the support of AMRO Private Banking and VLAIO, with expertise from Vlerick Business School, companies can now cut climate costs by an impressive 20%.

A sustainable New Year

As we enter 2024, let’s continue our progress and work together to build a more sustainable and resilient future. Our collective action and innovation prove that positive change is possible and achievable. Here’s to another year of making a significant impact.
